ISRO to launch NVS-03 navigation satellite on GSLV-F18 on 30 October
ISRO will launch NVS-03, the third satellite of India's next-generation NavIC navigation series, on the GSLV-F18 rocket from Sriharikota on Friday, 30 October 2026. It carries a made-in-India atomic clock.

India's space agency ISRO is set to launch NVS-03, its next navigation satellite, on the GSLV-F18 rocket on Friday, 30 October 2026, from the Second Launch Pad at Satish Dhawan Space Centre, Sriharikota.
What ISRO has confirmed
According to ISRO's official mission page:
- GSLV-F18 is the 20th flight of India's Geosynchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle (GSLV).
- It will place NVS-03 into a Geosynchronous Transfer Orbit.
- NVS-03 is the third satellite in India's next-generation navigation series, built to keep NavIC (IRNSS) navigation services running.
- The satellite carries an indigenous (made-in-India) atomic clock, along with procured atomic clocks.
- It adds the L1 signal, alongside the existing L5 and S-band signals, with coverage over India and about 1,500 km around India's borders.
Launch date and time
Livemint, Moneycontrol, The Indian Express and BusinessLine all report the launch for 30 October (Friday). Some reports and social posts give a late-night launch time of around 11:51 PM IST, but ISRO's mission page does not list the exact time, so check ISRO's live stream for the final time. ISRO has a live streaming page for the mission.
Why it matters
NavIC is India's own satellite navigation system, like a desi GPS. Reports from India Today and The Times of India note that NavIC has had gaps since the earlier NVS-02 satellite ran into trouble, and NVS-03 is an important step to strengthen it. ISRO is said to have made changes to its approach for this mission based on lessons from NVS-02.
Fact check
A viral post about this launch is mostly correct: the rocket (GSLV-F18), the satellite (NVS-03), the place (Sriharikota) and the date (30 October) all match ISRO and major news reports. The exact time is the only detail ISRO has not confirmed on its own page.
